8ta signs up 850 000 new subscribers in 160 days

8ta, the newly-launched Mobile Operator subsidiary of Telkom, faced a dramatic challenge in gaining new subscribers in an already saturated prepaid market.

8ta responded by launching a highly-visible, TV-based advertising campaign in November 2010, linked to an intensive on-the-ground, person-to-person sales campaign. Grapevine provided a web and mobi-based system to meet 8ta’s requirement to incentivise their sales agents, allowing them to register for the incentive scheme and monitor their own performance.

Grapevine Interactive provided 8ta with all the functionality needed to calculate, process and action the incentive payments to their agents by integrating Telkom’s backend systems with loyalty partner Edenred’s agent compensation system. Agents earn an incentive for each new client.
